Giving a limited edition bottle of vodka as a gift – should I trash the box and give only the bottle?

I bought a bottle of vodka for a friend and the bottle came in a box (it’s a limited edition). I’ve never given liquor as a gift before… should I trash the box and give just the bottle or should I give them the whole thing?

Give it in the box.

If a bottle doesn’t come in a box then a wine gift bag is always nice.
