Line Waterski

Help on Barefooting (Waterskiing)?
I just got the hang of barefooting on the boom (in water of course). I can also get off the boom onto a short line attached to the boom and ski from there for a little while.
But now we’ve extended the line from the boom from a couple of feet to about 2 meters (or yards…). I did this so I could get a little bit of the feel of how it is to start with a long line in deep water.
Now I am asking : What is the proper position to start with?
-Handle Position
-Timing
-Body Position
-Any other info…
Please someone help me! I can get up from the boom just fine, but the longer rope got harder (duh)…
Oh and also PLEASE! WHY DO I START BOUNCING AFTER ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS AFTER GETTING ON MY BUTT ON THE WATER??
All help greatly appreciated!!
Oh and one more thing.
How long does it take for most people to learn barefooting in the deep water?
I’m 14 yrs old and just started.
i’ve never actually deeep water started. Ihave always gone off of a modified knee board planting my feet at the proper time. I have watched a ton of deep water starts. i dont know if it’ll be any help but are you wrapping your feet around the line? you should be. wrap your feet. when you tell your driver to go, throw your head under water (keeps you from getting drowned by spray) hold your breath til you feel yourself plane off. at that point unwrap your feet and plant them. if you’re bouncing it could be speed. adjust slightly up or down to see how you react. more bounce? less bounce?… you’ll know. check out lane “da dawg” bowers web site. he has an “ask a question” area at the bottom of the page linked. he’ll set you straight. good luck. tuck and roll.
