Side Wakeboard
heelside on a wakeboard?
Okay I understand what the heelside/ toe side edge is on a wakeboard, but when doing tricks is your heelside considered when your going out into the flats or edging back in towards the wake. I ride left foot forward and generally go out on my right side toes facing the flats and heels towards the wake is this my heelside or my toes side?
Heelside/toeside is only referring to the side of your board that is touching the water as you cut, not necessarily the side of the wake you are on.
If someone says that they are “cutting out heelside”, that means they are on the heelside of their board (cutting to the left if you’re left foot forward). As you cut back torwards the wake, you are on a “toeside cut” So, the toeside/heelside is referring to which edge is currently in the water.
Now, if you’re referring to someone doing a “Heelside backroll” that is referring to what edge of their board hits the wake as they jump. So if you are left foot forward, a heelside backroll would be cutting from right to left, so your heels hit the wake first.
