10W-30 in Volvo Penta Marine Engine?

I recently bought a boat with a volvo penta I/O 4.3 gs motor. It has 400 hours on it. The engine oil had not been changed in a year so I decided to change it. I couldnt find the recommended SAE 30 Full synth anywhere nearby so I used Mobil 1 Full Synth 10W-30. I wont be driving the boat much above 3000-3500 rpm at all since its used for wakeboarding. Will the engine be OK for a few months with this viscosity oil or do I need to change it again for the SAE 30 ? I have already looked online and found mixed reviews but all I really want to know is can I run it with this oil or do I need to change it immediately to prevent damage?

10W30 is perfect for you. It’s a factory 4.3 V6 from Chevrolet.
Next time, spring for Royal Purple or Amsoil, and use a Wix oil filter. These two oils are superior oils to Mobil 1. But no harm at all in what you have done. In fact, the performance and the mileage will be better because of it.
