Wave Runner
I need a truck or SUV that can pull my wave runner and get very good gas mileage for every day use.?
I’m looking to sell my car because I need to be able to pull my waverunner I just bought, but because of my job I have to drive around alot. So I need something with good gas mileage as well. Anyone know of a automobile that would work and is in an affordable price range. Thanks.
Simple, if you want a truck and not a cutesy SUV wannabe: The Ford Ranger.
With the 2.3 liter Duratec four-cylinder, the Ranger can get close to 30 mpg on the highway. I know this from experience– I commute to work in mine pretty much every day (unless I take my motorcycle.)
The base Ranger is fairly nice, but with a few little options (CD player stereo, air conditioning) will come out to $12,500 or so if you’re willing to buy a lightly used example from the certified used lot. The more options you add to the Ranger, the closer you get to F150 price territory, but remember this: While the F150 is a lot more truck for not so much more price, you’ll pay the penalty in horrible gas mileage– think mid-teens in daily driving if you do any commuting in city conditions or haul that Waverunner around very much at all.
If you’re looking for a cute SUV, the Ford Escape isn’t so bad. Don’t know about tow ratings, but again, 30 mpg highway is hard to beat in its class. I’d say with a proper tow hitch, it should be more than capable enough to handle your Waverunner.
In both the Ranger’s and the Escape’s classes, there are competing vehicles from Chevy. The Colorado pickup truck leaves a lot to be desired, but the Chevy Equinox has been getting very good reviews lately.
